
Idlewild Community is a tranquil mountain neighborhood nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains above Eagle Nest, New Mexico. With a rich history of outdoor recreation and cabin life, we’re a close-knit community that values communication, safety, and stewardship of our unique alpine environment. You can donate and support the Idlewild Community or the Idlewild Church.

During the first week of November, you will receive your annual Assessment invoice by email (if we have your current address on file) and also by U.S. mail.

Online (Electronic Invoice): If you prefer to pay electronically, please use the secure invoice sent to you by email. This is the only way to make online assessment payments. Accepted methods include credit/debit card, Venmo, PayPal, and other electronic services.
AutoPay: If you’d like to set up automatic recurring payments, please contact the Treasurer for assistance.

Yes, an AED is located at the caretaker’s cabin. Always dial 911 first in an emergency.
Trash bins are located near the caretaker’s cabin year-round, with two additional bins available near the Community Center in the summer months. Please see the Idlewild Community Rules for what may be placed in the dumpsters.
No. Idlewild residents do not pay the $384 normally charged by Eagle Nest. Instead, you receive a discounted trash fee of only $120 through the Idlewild community.
Yes, outside fires are permitted when there is no fire ban in effect. This includes charcoal and gas grilling, as well as small fires less than three feet in diameter.
Idlewild Chapel services run from Father’s Day through Labor Day at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. More information is available on our website.
Annual assessments support road maintenance, trash service, caretaker expenses, and other community needs. A detailed breakdown is provided each year in the Treasurer’s Report.
No. Rentals, including short-term rentals such as Airbnb and VRBO, are not permitted in Idlewild Community.
