"I have met some wonderful people and made friends I will cherish forever."

Duties of our Caretaker

Our Caretaker is an independent contractor. The duties of the Idlewild Independent Contractor are attached. Anything you ask the contractor to do, that is not included in the attached duties, is outside of the scope of what the caretaker was hired to to. It will be solely the caretaker’s decision to accept any jobs outside of these duties. It will also be your responsibility to not only compensate the caretaker, but be responsible for any liability on your property. This is nothing new, but wanted to make sure all our residents understand. In addition, we have added another layer of protection for Idlewild.

Attached to this newsletter, is a waiver, that the caretaker will require the Idlewild resident to sign prior to working for that resident. The waiver basically states, ‘Owner understands that Contractor is not performing this work on behalf of Idlewild Community (“IWCC”) but simply as an independent contractor that has been employed for this purpose.’

I look forward to seeing you all this Summer!

Biography – Daniel Helker

I was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico. My family moved to Texas when I was six months old, and at age five, we relocated to Perryton, Texas.

I attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a B.S. degree in Engineering (Electronics Technologies). At the same time, I received a commission into the United States Air Force through ROTC. This was in May 1974, just as the Vietnam War had ended. Since the Air Force had too many officers at that time, I chose to begin my career outside of the military.

I went to work for Mobil Oil Company as a Field Engineer, repairing instruments used in seismic exploration work. I remained in the reserves for six years. I worked in that industry until 1992, when I joined Dallas Semiconductor as a Senior Manufacturing Supervisor.

In 1987, I met my wonderful wife and soulmate, Bea. We married in 1988. I am blessed with a son and two grandsons.

In 2012, I began working for Encana Oil and Gas Company as a high-pressure gas well completions consultant. I retired in 2016 but have continued to work part-time for various companies since then.

In October 2022, I moved to Mexico. Beginning in November 2022, I look forward to meeting all the residents of this community.

THANK YOU to everyone!
